Medical Laboratory Technician Location: Baton Rouge, LA Agency: SnapCare Pay: $1,716 per week Shift Information: Rotating Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Medical Technician - Contract Location: Baton Rouge, LA Job Details: Base Hours = 48/week Pay Rate = $33/hr (Local) Shift Type = Days Shift Hours = 08:00 - 18:30 Assignment Length = 13 Weeks The Medical Technician is responsible for performing laboratory tests and procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing, monitoring, and treating medical conditions. This role involves collecting and analyzing biological samples, ensuring quality control, maintaining laboratory equipment, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field. Certification: ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification preferred Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant clinical laboratory experience preferred. Responsibilities: Collect and prepare biological specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue for laboratory analysis. Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and immunology. Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Record, interpret, and validate test results; promptly report any abnormal findings to the appropriate medical personnel. Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations. Monitor quality control processes and participate in quality assurance programs. Follow proper procedures for specimen handling, storage, and disposal in accordance with infection control and safety protocols. Assist in maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents. Support physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers by providing reliable diagnostic information.
