Job Description:
CMAP Express is looking for a qualified, experienced Registered
Dietitian to promote healthy eating habits and provide Medical
Nutrition Therapy for Healthy Lifestyle Program clients in the
nine-parish area served by The Rapides Foundation and CMAP. The
qualified candidate must have knowledge of the principles and
practices of dietetics and nutrition, using evidence based
research.
The qualified candidate must have a Bachelor's degree, in an
accredited dietetics program and current license/registration with
the Commission for Dietetic Registration (CDR). An active dietetics
license in Louisiana is also required.
Knowledge/background/certification in physical fitness/personal
training is preferred. Three to five years dietetic experience is
necessary, as well as strong skills in the following areas: team
building, organization, time management, communication, and
interpersonal relations. The qualified candidate must have reliable
transportation, valid driver's license, and be willing to cover the
nine-parish service area.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to the Healthy Lifestyle Program Coordinator
Job Summary: The Healthy Lifestyle Program Registered Dietitian
must have knowledge of the principles and practices of dietetics
and nutrition, and the relationship between sound nutrition, diet
and physical activity. The Registered Dietitian will promote
healthy eating habits and recommend nutrition modifications for
clients in the nine-parish region served by The Rapides Foundation
and CMAP.
The Healthy Lifestyle Program is funded by The Rapides Foundation
and administered by CMAP to provide one-on-one nutrition and
physical activity counseling to Central Louisiana residents. A
registered dietitian and an exercise specialist work with clients
referred by their physicians to offer demonstrations and education
on proper nutrition and physical activity for good health.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The Healthy Lifestyle Program Registered Dietitian shall have the
responsibility of assessing, designing and evaluating meal and
fitness plans to clients within The Rapides Foundation Service
Area.
Evaluating a client's nutritional needs and providing nutritional
counseling and education to clients appropriate to client's
lifestyle, nutritional and health needs.
Provide classes and work one-on-one with clients with various
nutritional/health issues and identify individual nutrition and
fitness priorities.
Educate clients to nutrition/fitness plan as well as monitor,
track, and adjust meal plans.
Ongoing assessment of client's nutrition and activity needs and
adapt plans as needed. Develop nutrition plans and implement
interventions based on knowledge of patient's current health.
Implement personalized, age-specific and culturally appropriate
nutrition strategies.
Deliver client nutrition recommendations to physicians as
needed.
Advise patients on setting specific nutrition goals.
Document patient progress.
Work with families, couples, and individuals to help them make
desired dietary changes to their lifestyles.
Present facts about diet and nutrition during community events and
speaking engagements.
Translate nutrition science into understandable, practical eating
advice.
QUALIFICATIONS
A four-year degree in an accredited dietetics program and current
license/registration with Commission for Dietetic Registration
(CDR) plus active license in Louisiana is required.
The Healthy Lifestyle Program Registered Dietitian should, first
and foremost, have a strong interest in diet and physical activity.
Secondly, must be an excellent teacher, possessing the patience to
educate and motivate others. Excellent communication skills, both
listening and speaking, are also extremely important. This
individual must be able to understand and incorporate each client's
wishes and goals into their individual program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in supporting and interpreting the mission of
The Rapides Foundation in response to addressing the need for
nutritional planning and education for those interested in
improving their habits and health.
Meet one-on-one with clients to address their specific needs and
establish set of goals and objectives for each.
Travel to The Rapides Foundation Service Area and provide nutrition
education and counseling on regular basis.
Plan and conduct group sessions and health awareness events.
Provide feedback to physicians at certain intervals on progress of
clients.
Keep up with the latest nutritional science research.
Promote services that are high quality and effective.
Healthy Lifestyle Program Registered Dietitian responsibilities
will be carried out in accordance with the Bylaws, Strategic
Grantmaking Framework, and Other Policies established by The
Rapides Foundation Board of Trustees. Teamwork and communication
are essential for meeting responsibilities and achieving CMAP
objectives.
